Workshop postponed and moved to another venue!

Dear Colleagues,

We regret to inform you that due to the tragic events in Abuja on Friday 26 August, the organizers had to reconsider implementation of the GEO-UNESCO Joint workshop planned to take place in Abuja and Kaduna, Nigeria, 8 – 13 September 2011. Based on the discussion among all the co-hosting organizations at a special call on 29 August 2011, it has been decided to change the venue of the workshop. Considering the tight schedule of GEO, UNESCO and University of Tokyo in October – November period, it has also been decided to postpone the event to the January/February time frame. The candidate venue is Nairobi, Kenya, the UNESCO facilities, but other possibilities will be considered if proposed.

The organizers agreed that it would be beneficial to maintain and nurture the established GEO-UNESCO-UT collaborative framework and the same structure as planned for the Nigeria workshop will be kept, i.e. the AfWCCI Demonstration Project session together with the IWRM session. The event should precede the 3rd Asian Water Cycle Symposium that is planned in February.

We apologize for inconveniences caused by such a last minute cancellation of the workshop and thank you for your kind understanding of the circumstances. We hope for your continued interest in the workshop and its targets and look forward to holding a successful event early next year and meeting you there. We will inform you of the dates, venue and other details duly.
