Date and Venue

The Workshop includes two main sessions that will take place at different venues, in the Abuja city and the Kaduna city, respectively.

The session on Demonstration Projects of the African Water Cycle Coordination Initiative (AfWCCI), will be held at the Multi purpose Center, NASRDA, Abuja, from Thursday 8 September through Saturday 10 September 2011.

The session on Capacity Development for Integrated Water Resources Management will be held at the Conference Center, NWRI, Kaduna, from Monday 12 September through Tuesday 13 September 2011.

On Sunday 11 September, the field trip to a river site will be organized. Further information on the venue locations is available on the Venue and Hotel page.

Registration

The Workshop is intended for invited guests only, who are kindly requested to submit a registration form, available through the Registration Page.

River Basin Presentations

Representatives of Trans-boundary River Basins are requested to prepare an introductory presentation on their respective basins. Instructions for preparation these contributions are provided on the Presentations page.

Accommodation

The Onyx Hotel and Apartments and the Asaa Pyramid Hotel are selected for stay in Abuja and Kaduna, respectively. A special UNESCO rate has been assured and block reservation made. All participants are expected to stay in these hotels to simplify the transportation logistics. For further information on the hotels, please refer to the Venue and Hotel page.

Visa Application

A visa letter required for the visa application will also be issued for international participants. The visa letter will be issued by NASRDA and the responsible person for this matter is Mr. Jide Ajayi:

Participants are requested to contact Mr. Ajayi by yourself and provide him with a copy of your passport data page, which is essential for preparing the visa letter. The procedure may take some time and thus your early submission is greatly appreciated.

Transportation

Participants are encouraged to book air ticket by yourself. However, if you need ticket arrangement, please contact with the UNESCO Abuja Office (see the Contact and Links page). The ground transportation in Nigeria will be assured by the local co-hosting organizations. The details are provided on the Travel Information page.

Others

  • A high-speed LAN as well as wireless internet connection will be available at both venues.
  • Electric voltage: 230V 50Hz
  • Electric plug: Type D - two parallel prongs plus an earth connector and Type G ("British" type) - three large flat prongs. (Details and figures here). Please bring your own plug adapters for your equipment.
