  1. NARITA AIRPORT TO UENO STATION

    The most recommended way to get to the University of Tokyo (the Symposium venue) is taking SKYLINER trains by ‘Keisei Electric Railway’ to Keisei-Ueno Station.

    The Keisei-line ticketing counted is located at B1 floor of Terminal 1 and 2. The ticket price is 1,920 (for adult). The travel time is 56 minutes, and it run every 40 minutes or so during 7:40am. to 9:50pm. If you need to travel outside of the operating hours, please consult the local secretariat.

  2. UENO STATION TO THE VANUE, UNIVERSITY OF TOKYO- HONGO CAMPUS

    Taking taxi is the most recommended way to access to the venue, University of Tokyo, Hongo Campus. It will take about 10 minutes and 900 JPY in case of no traffic jam. Please remind that you should get off at front of MAIN GATE.

  • Traveler's Cheque, Credit Cards & VAT
    Traveler's cheques are not as widely used in Japan as in most other countries and are accepted only by major banks and hotels. Major credit cards are widely accepted. Conventional checks are almost unheard of in everyday life. The consumption tax (VAT) rate is 5%.
  • Insurance
    Participants are strongly advised to arrange their own overseas travel insurance.
  • Time
    In relation to Greenwich, Tokyo is +9 hours.
  • Electrical Appliances
    100-110 volts and a flat two-pronged plug, type A, are used. A Japanese quirk: 60 Hz in western Japan; 50 Hz in eastern Japan, including Tokyo. Please use your own electrical outlet adapter to adjust the AC plug on your equipment to the above-mentioned Japanese AC power supply as it is difficult to purchase it locally. Please bring the power transformer such as from 200V AC to 100V AC.
  • Tipping
    Tips are not required or expected in Japan, at hotels, restaurants and anywhere else. A 10-20 percent service charge is included in some bills.
  • Passport and Visa
    Visitors from nations whose citizens must have visas should apply to a Japanese consular office or diplomatic mission in their country.
