Date and Venue

The Workshop includes two main sessions, both of which will take place at the same venue, the UN Office at Nairobi (UNON), Kenya.

The session on Demonstration Projects of the African Water Cycle Coordination Initiative (AfWCCI) will be held from Thursday 12 January through Saturday 14 January 2012.

The session on Capacity Development for Integrated Water Resources Management will be held from Saturday 14 January afternoon through Monday 16 January 2012 noon.

On Monday 16 January in the afternoon, a field trip will be organized. Further information on the venue locations is available on the Venue and Hotel page.

Registration

The Workshop is intended for invited guests only, who are kindly requested to submit a registration form, available through the Registration Page.

River Basin Presentations

Representatives of River Basins are requested to prepare an introductory presentation on their respective basins. Instructions for preparation these contributions are provided on the Presentations page.

Accommodation

A block of rooms have been booked in the Comfort Gardens hotel near the UN Compound and the organizers recommend all participants to make reservation in this hotel. For further details, please refer to the Venue and Hotel page.

Visa Application

A number of foreign country citizens can obtain visa on arrival at the airport. Please confirm with your local Embassy or Consulate of Kenya, whether it is also your case.

In order to assure smooth issuance of your visa at the Nairobi airport, the organizers will advise the immigration officers of your participation in the subject workshop in advance. For this purpose, it is essential that you provide the color copy of your passport photo page to the local host, the UNESCO Office in Nairobi:

Transportation

Participants are encouraged to book your air ticket by yourself. Information on the ground transportation in Kenya is be provided on the on the Travel Information

Currency

Kenya's currency unit is the Kenya Shilling (KShs). The exchange rate is about 95 KShs to 1 USD. Money is easily changed through Bureau de Change or hotels. Cash in local currencies can be obtained from ATM machines at the Standard Chartered Bank or Barclays Bank. International credit cards can be used for payments in some of the recommended hotels and at some restaurants.
